Education in Trollhättan

Higher education is a priority in Trollhättan, as evidenced by rapidly growing college. About 9 100 students are diligently preparing for the future at Trollhättan College and in nearby Uddevalla and Vänersborg. The colleges work in close collaborations with local companies to raise competiveness of regional business and industry.

English-speaking School

The English-speaking School of Trollhättan (ESS) was opened in August 1992 to cater and serve the families of the English-speaking population of this busy industrial town.

The school is beautifully situated and extremely well designed. It is within close proximity to the centre of Trollhättan and the magnificent Trollhättan Canal. ESS occupies one part of Paradisskolan. The school caters for pupils from the age of 5 to the age of 12 or 13. Attendance is free of charge.

University West

University West is one of Sweden's newest universities and since fall of the year 2008 it is concentrated to Trollhättan. The number of students are approximately 10 000. Courses offered includes technology, economics, social sciences, systems technology, communications, teaching, and behavioural sciences.

University West offers in some of their educations so called cooperative education (COOP), where studies is combined with salaried work. A vital precondition for this type of education is a close collaboration with the industry in the region, which University West have. The profile of University West is their unic structure to education through work integrated learning combined with traditional studies.

The university research and development operation is an important source to bring international and applied science to the region's development. Important areas of research are not least processing of information and automation technology. University West is also researching in the area of work integrated learning.

Chalmers University of Technology - Göteborg

Chalmers University of Technology, with its seat in Göteborg, is one of Sweden's two major universities of technology. Scientists, civil engineers, architects, engineers and nautical engineers are trained here.

Research and training are conducted at approximately 100 institutes and departements within basic science and all technical sciences.
